Keep Your Profile Up to Date
Your Exposure profile is the first thing a college coach sees. Make sure your grad year, position, school, and club team are current. Update your measurables and contact info whenever they change. A profile with missing or outdated details tells a coach you are not actively engaged in your own recruiting.

College coaches use measurables (height, wingspan, weight) and academic information (GPA, test scores) to screen players before they ever watch film. Fill in these fields on your profile so coaches can evaluate you quickly. If you do not want to share academics publicly, you can still enter them and control who sees what.

Research Before You Reach Out
Before you email a coach, learn about their program. Look at their recent roster, their style of play, and the players they recruit at your position. A message that shows you understand the program stands out. A generic message sent to fifty coaches at once does not.

Treat every email and message to a coach the way you would treat a job application. Use a clear subject line. Address the coach by name. Proofread before you send. Use your school or club email, not a nickname. Coaches notice the details, and a careless message can end your chances before they begin.

Coaches are busy. If you do not hear back after your first email, wait a week or two before following up. Send a short, polite note with any new information such as new film, updated measurables, or a recent result. Do not send multiple follow-ups in a few days. Persistence is good. Spam is not.

Keep Your Film Current
College coaches want to see recent film. Highlight film from two years ago does not help you. Add new film to your profile at least once each season, and replace older clips when you have better ones. If a coach asks for full game film, make sure you have it ready to share.

Put your strongest plays at the start of your highlight film. Coaches may only watch the first thirty seconds. Show your best skills first, not a long intro or music montage. Keep the film short, clear, and focused on you.

Recruiting happens in stages. Division I coaches can start evaluating players at different points depending on the sport and the rules. Do not panic if you are not hearing from coaches as a freshman. Focus on improving, playing well, and keeping your profile current. The right time to start is now, but the right time to worry is later.
