The Florida Rebels came into Peach Jam as the top team out of Pool A and left as champions. They finished the event 7-1, led the entire field at 85.4 points per game on 48 percent shooting, and posted a plus 10.4 point differential across eight games. This was not a team that caught fire for a weekend. It was the best team on the floor from the opening tip.
The bracket still tested them. The quarterfinal against CP3 came down to three points, 82 to 79. The semifinal against Team Herro was an eight point win, 84 to 76. Then, in the final against a Drive Nation team that had won Pool B and knocked off both NY Rens and Nightrydas to get there, the Rebels pulled away late for a 71 to 60 win. Closing the final by double digits after two tight bracket games says a team peaked at the right moment.
